The Class VII and VIII logic Test.

Good day.

It has been a fair bit of time since I have written, but now I have something to report, so I will report it.

The test was a major success, and we actually needed another lab to fit in all the people that showed up. Class VII appeared to have assembled in great big marshaled companies, and we had to get the papers photocopied twice, as our original expected number was way below the actual attendance. The actual answer-scripts have not been corrected as of now and are currently lying in Mr. Mukesh’s room, which I will take the opportunity to dub “The Vault of Exun”. The results will probably be out on Wednesday.

I expect a good performance from the seventhies, better than the one given by Class VIII students, though admittedly the paper was a bit easier this time.

Trivia

Sean Michaels set up a website about a certain commodity. On this site people offered something they owned in exchange. The site shot to popularity, getting over 2,000,000 hits a day and people offered photographs of their thumbs, old postage stamps, broken hub caps, fake watches and many other things.

Name the commodity and the website (URL)

IInd Logic Test – Class VIII & VII

Another logic test will be conducted for students of class VIII and class VII for exun programming entrance on 6th September 2004 (Monday) during stay back hours. Students who want to give the test may or maynot be familiar to Basic/C++ programming language. Students will be tested only on their logical and analytical skills (only simple mathematical logic required). They wouldnot be asked to write any programs. Posters have already been sent to each section and have been fixed on school notice boards. Hopefully there will be a better response than last time.

A Joke

A Joke in today’s HT City

In computer heaven:

Management is from Intel.

Design and construction from apple(G5 rocks)

Marketing by Microsoft.

Gateway provides support.

Dell determines pricing.

In computer hell:

Management from apple.

Microsoft does design and construction.

IBM handles marketing

Support is from Packard-Bell.

Intel sets the price.

Anyways, the joke relies more on the person’s sense of humour and wishing all lenient teachers a Happy Teacher’s Day.

Teacher’s day celebration report (Unofficial)

First of all happy teachers day to all teachers. This is for those who didinot attend the senior assembly today. It was real fun. Of course i am going to talk about the best part only… The interview of teachers of computer department- Mr Mukesh Kumar, Ms Hema Jain and Mr Mohitendra Dey. I must say that the questions were really well framed.

  • Q1 (To Mr Mukesh): Why do you think that there are so few male teachers in our school?

The reply: That is a very tough question to answer….[really long pause]…that is really a difficult question. ……..[pause]Please ask me some other question [quietly]. [Mrs. Chona prompts from back stage!!] Maybe male teachers do not join this proffession because women

    are the better half.

  • Q2 (To Ms Hema Jain): What has been the most rewarding moment of your teaching career?

The reply:I think… when students pass out of school [she is probably relieved], and they come back when they’re well-settled and invite us for their marriages, i guess that’s when I really feel good about being a teacher.

  • Q3 (To Mr Mohit Dey): What character from TV serials do you relate yourself to?

The reply:The only serials i watch on TV…mostly what I watch on TV is cartoon network. You probably won’t believe it but that is how it is. A character on TV I relate with…. that would be… my favourite character is mickey mouse. [crowd laughs!!] Yes! Mickey Mouse and Tintin, maybe.

One more question whose answer was related to a computer teacher was asked to Mrs. Meenu Kanwar: If you were to compete for a beauty pageant, say Miss Chandigarh, which teacher in this school do you think will be your toughest competition?

The reply: Actually, I have been Miss Chandigarh earlier, [crowd cheers a lot!] and now if I have to compete my biggest competitor would be….[???GUESS WHO?? Obviously a computer teacher]

Note: The replies of the questions have been recalled from memory and thus maynot be 100% accurate.

Web hosting

Does anybody know of good web hosts (free or paid but a free host is preferref) providing PHP support. I also need support for CGI and MySql. Monthly bandwidth is also an important consideration for me. Please tell me about any good hosts.

Note: I don’t want a freeservers.com type of subdomain. I own a domain and I want my website to be hosted.

Quizottica

Today my team(me,Ishaan, Aritra) as well as 2 other teams from our school went for a Quiz at Carmel Convent named QUIZOTTICA. By sheer luck we lost out in the semis as all sitter questions were going to our neighbours. Bhavya’s team came 2nd, and first, you can guess! MIS.

Some questions were nice computer related questions. Here they go:-

Which animated cartoon was made entirely on Flash?(sitter)

Which word in latin means ‘First Glue’? (we got the second part of the word right which was ‘col’. We said Fevicol. The answer- Protocol)

Just another question:-

Which instrument’s name literally means ‘made of clay’?(everyone knew this)Mridangam

Anyway it was a pretty good quiz, could have been better, if we won something.
