There are plenty of good quizzers in Exun and they often post quiz questions on the blog. But people like me have hardly answered those. Now I give you people a question that can be attempted be almost everyone in Exun (whether they are quizzers or not). And since I am not a quizzer my question should be somewhat different, so I will be providing you with clues to the answer.

Now here are the clues:

Originally known as kissyboy during his hey-days in Shri Ram. This young hottie has now succeeded to the post of the illustrious Vaibhav Saigal. Name him to get rewarded by this self-proclaimed egomaniac.

Of course he is a member of Exunclan and I may also add that there is another hidden clue to his post in Exun hierarchy.

Note: Only the first one to name the person in the picture correctly gets rewarded. Also he must specify the reason for his answer and the ‘hidden clue’ that I am talking about.

It seemed to be an extremely professional competition until we actually participated in it. The questions are here for you to download. There are plenty of problems in the questions, and there are wrong examples too. So do not blame me if you find the questions are meaningless. Try out the questions, you should be able to solve the 1st and the 3rd question.

Modem 2004, Modern School, Vasant Vihar – few people participated in this event ie only in progamming and gaming. Mainly because the exams were too near. The prgramming questions were simple and I expect all questions will be solved by the exun programmers. Infact two out of them must have been done by all exun programmers as we have asked these questions in various tests. People interested in knowing the questions may download it from here.

I would like to apologise for being so late in posting the questions, actually I didnot want to type out four pages. So today I scanned it from school- but unfortunately there were no floppies to transfer the scanned file to the HCL computer, and it also doesnot have any network connection. So I had to type out the entire quention paper. And so dont blame me if there are any errors as I am not in a good mood right now.

Here are the Senior programming questions that were asked in e-Spice 2004. Intrested students may download it and attempt the questions. I would request all the Exun programmers to attempt these questions. Junior programmers can attempt the 6 markers.

I recommended sir to create a login exclusively for exun members few weeks ago. Even though sir assured that he would create that soon, it still hasn’t been created (maybe it slipped off his mind). I feel that it would be really useful to save whatever we create or make in that account. It will serve two purpose:- firstly no non-exun members can access it, thus it wouldnot be tampered. Secondly we can access it from any computer in the school. Thus whatever we are working on can be both secure and accessible easily. We all can have our own personal directories in that account to save our work. Do you people think that such an account will be useful?

And Karan please dont punctuate my post- you can point out the mistakes directly to me, dont do that in the public blog!!

The response to this test was excellent, infact beyond our expectations. You all must be knowing that, as many as thirty students from VIII-VII participated in this, out of them only two have been selected:-

1. Saumya K. (VIII-C): The only person to score more than 50%. Excellent attempt.
   
2. Shashwat (VII-K): Considering the fact that he is from class VII, it was an very good attempt.
   

Congrats to you two. The average marks scored out of 25 was only 7. One dissapointing fact was that none of the students could solve any of the starred questions(the difficult ones). No one was told about it, but we would have preferred those who solved these. But anyways, overall the test was a success. Those who want to checkout the questions can download it here. Another logic test will be conducted for students of class VIII and class VII for exun programming entrance on 6^th September 2004 (Monday) during stay back hours. Students who want to give the test may or maynot be familiar to Basic/C++ programming language. Students will be tested only on their logical and analytical skills (only simple mathematical logic required). They wouldnot be asked to write any programs. Posters have already been sent to each section and have been fixed on school notice boards. Hopefully there will be a better response than last time.

First of all happy teachers day to all teachers. This is for those who didinot attend the senior assembly today. It was real fun. Of course i am going to talk about the best part only… The interview of teachers of computer department- Mr Mukesh Kumar, Ms Hema Jain and Mr Mohitendra Dey. I must say that the questions were really well framed.

• Q1 (To Mr Mukesh): Why do you think that there are so few male teachers in our school?

  The reply: That is a very tough question to answer….[really long pause]…that is really a difficult question. ……..[pause]Please ask me some other question [quietly]. [Mrs. Chona prompts from back stage!!] Maybe male teachers do not join this proffession because women
  
  are the better half.

• Q2 (To Ms Hema Jain): What has been the most rewarding moment of your teaching career?

  The reply:I think… when students pass out of school [she is probably relieved], and they come back when they’re well-settled and invite us for their marriages, i guess that’s when I really feel good about being a teacher.

• Q3 (To Mr Mohit Dey): What character from TV serials do you relate yourself to?

  The reply:The only serials i watch on TV…mostly what I watch on TV is cartoon network. You probably won’t believe it but that is how it is. A character on TV I relate with…. that would be… my favourite character is mickey mouse. [crowd laughs!!] Yes! Mickey Mouse and Tintin, maybe.
  

One more question whose answer was related to a computer teacher was asked to Mrs. Meenu Kanwar: If you were to compete for a beauty pageant, say Miss Chandigarh, which teacher in this school do you think will be your toughest competition?

The reply: Actually, I have been Miss Chandigarh earlier, [crowd cheers a lot!] and now if I have to compete my biggest competitor would be….[???GUESS WHO?? Obviously a computer teacher]

Sorry to delay Entrance Test for junior programmers. A logic test will be conducted for students of class VIII on 18^th August 2004 (Wednesday) during stay back hours. Students who want to give the test may or maynot be familiar to Basic/C++ programming language (though it would be better if they have some knowledge about programming). Students will be tested only on their logical and analytical skills. They wouldnot be asked to write any programs. Exun members of class VIII or IX are requested to announce about this test in all sections of class VIII.
