Is the iPhone just another one of those RAZR and Walkman like phenomenon that’ll die out or will it survive the tides of time ?

    I have an iPhone, it think its still very relevant. In a few days I'm going get a change to play with a Pre, so I cant speak on that yet.

    Walkman was not a phenomenon, it was a ground breaking product that failed to evolve. The iPhone still enjoys the top-dog position (along with the Pre).

    The RAZR died out because its appeal was purely physical. The UI on the RAZR was horrible, and gave motorola nothing to build on. As phones evolve, software is becoming more and more important (iPhone, Pre, android all have this covered).

    The iPhone 3G lacks in the hardware department. Not the 3G S though, its faster than almost any phone out there. (3G S even has L2 Cache… yay!)

I find iphone more of a leisure item than a utility…its battery dies down fast,its message display is poor(it comes in the form of bubble chat..previous messages are hard to retrieve),the camera is jus 2 mp…its got mileage cause of the apple tag…some upcoming cells with more or les same features may be better off…n97,star 3G…

  3. ^^ @Arshiya: I agree with Arshiya. Agreed that iphone was and still is revolutionary with the multi tough display that made people swoon over it. But at the same time, it would have sold even a quarter of those phones had it not been manufactured in the Apple stable banking on the Ipod's success. Look at the other apple products, like their macs and macbooks, they dont even a hold a quarter of the total market in terms of sales of desktops or notebooks.

  4. taking in count that the ipod was a revolution, more people took interest in buying the iphone. the 'i' before the 'phone' is what made a million+ people get their share of it. i dont know much abt the technical details of the iphone, but as u ppl are saying i believe that there is enough competition for it in the market. The 'touch' power that it had ruled with earlier is no longer a stand out feature.

    1. IPhone 3G S– A step forward for IPhone 3G with a 3MP camera. The S stands for speed.

    2. Nokia N97– 5MP camera, dvd quality video capture and a qwerty keyboard.

    3. Palm Pre– 3MP camera, HVGA display, excellent wireless connectivity.

    4. Samsung Omnia Pro– 5.1 MP camera, AMOLED touch screen.

    5. Sony Ericsson Statio– 12.1 megapixel camera with intuitive touch focus, Image Stabilizer, Xenon flash, face detection, smile detection and Geo tagging capabilities. 3.5 inch touch screen.

    6. AQUOS SHOT 933SH– 10 MP camera which is rated at a whopping ISO 12800.

    7. Samsung Pixon 12– 12 MP Camera, touchfocus.

    8. Acer F900 Smartphone– 3.8' touch screen, 3MP camera.

    9. Samsung S8300– 8MP camera.

    10. GigaByte GSmart S1200– 1.1cm slim phone with good multimedia facilities. No camera though, I suppose.

    And ofcourse there is storm, EXperia, LG dare, LG vu and Samsung Experia to give it some good competition.

    Already ATT and T-Mobile, the biggest phone providers in the USA, have started to change ratings for IPhone, pretty negatively.

    I guess it will be time for us soon to bid farewell to the 'IPhone Saga.'
