Some latest happenings

Here are a few latest articles which will catch your eye and keep you updated-

-‘Podcast’ has been rated Word of the Year for 2005 by the editors of the New Oxford American Dictionary. Defined as “a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar programme made available on the internet for downloading to a personal audio player”, the word will be added to the next online update of the dictionary next year.

-Yahoo launched a service called Answers on Thursday that invites people to ask questions, and then lets other visitors answer them. Kind of like Google Answers except you don’t have to pay anything. You could say it is similar to AskJeeves.com(ask.com)

-‘Podjacking’ is the creation of an alternate RSS feed without the consent of the podcast’s owner.

-Yahoo acquires the New York-based social-networking service called ‘Del.icio.us’ that enabled users to easily compile and share online articles, music and reviews.

-Google has introduced ‘Google Transit’ which is a new Lab product where users can map trips around their city using public transit system.

Apple Power Mac G5

Punch in ’42’ and this thing could well answer Life’s Ultimate Question. This Power Mac stroked by two 2.5 GHz dualcore processors is forest fire smoking fast. You’ll see apps running as much as 50 % faster than on a dual core Mac, let alone “wheezing” windows?Intel PCs. The rest of the box is no less heavy duty, with a vast 250 GB disk,,though u cna even put two 500 gb disks. and its memory ois expandable to 16 GB
though fyi OS X 10.4 theoritacally supports 4 TB of RAM (even if only the likes of NASA can afford it) and 256 Mb of video memory with dual display support , 6 usb ports three FW , Bluetooth support. The manual says nothing abt infinite Improbability drives though..hmm hmmm

Apple vs Creative ; iPod vs Vision:M

what’s black , white and green with iPod envy ? Creative’s new Zen Vision:M – Macdaily news

The new MP3 30GB player by Creative – the Zen vision:M is almost a mocking copy of the 5G iPod . In almost every respect it seems the guys at creative have copied apple . They didn’t even spare the menu system . The vision has the same 2.5 inch screen and 320X240 resolution as the iPod with video though is does have more codec compatibility like DivX and Xvid. It comes in a horde of diffrent colors ( somthing the iPod doesnt ) and its packed with stuff like a micro-phone and FM tuner but I just don’t like the control buttons . Not to mention is isn’t as sleek as the iPod and one major factor – Apple doesn’t manufacture it !! ( apple fanboy here , flame me all you want)

Apparently these guys have been developing the product for a year and cant be blamed if apple happened to come up with the same system .. they go so far as to say that in 2000 they patented the menu system and plan to sue apple for using it . I’m not too clear on this , but it seems like a legal battle is on its way . But “judge” yourself –
