Movie review: Wall-E

Lnexun doesn’t normally do movie reviews but I thought this movie deserved one.

Wall-E is computer-animated-science-fiction-romance film produced by Pixar Animation Studios (Now owned by Disney, with Steve Jobs on the board of directors). All in all, a wonderful movie, Most of the characters do not have actual human voices, but instead communicate with body language and robotic sounds, designed by Ben Burtt, that resemble voices. It is also quite interesting to note that Wall-E runs Mac OS.

“By the early 22nd century, the mega corporation Buy n Large took control of every economic service on Earth, causing excessive worldwide consumerism to cover the planet in un-recycled trash. A plan was proposed that would have the Earth’s population evacuate the planet into space on fully automated luxury star liners where they would spend the next five years while an army of waste disposal robots called “WALL-E” (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) would be left behind to clean the planet. This plan failed, however, and the planet was deemed uninhabitable. For the next 700 years, humanity continued to live in space while all of the WALL-E robots on Earth broke down except for one; this lone unit still performs his duties but, after centuries of prolonged activation, has developed sentience and a sense of curiosity, as shown by his habit of collecting knickknacks among the trash (as well as spare parts for himself), and his fascination with the old musical film Hello, Dolly!.

Subsequently, Wall-E falls into love with a probe robot EVE. Wall-E’s adventures then lead him to the luxury star liner, the axiom itself. The captain of the ship discovers Earth’s present state and realizes that humans must go back and rebuild human civilization on earth. Once they reach Earth, the humans and robots begin working together to restore their home.”

The Legend Called Mukesh Kumar

Ladies and Gentlemen, Today, 3rd November is Mukesh Sir’s Birthday. I would like to take this opportunity to write a few lines on what Mukesh Sir means to The Exun Clan.

Exun stands where it is today, only because of Mukesh Sir’s guidance and never ending trust. Exun is not a computer club. It is a family held together by Mukesh Sir’s leadership, love and affection. Without him, Exun was just another ‘club’. Thats why its called the Exun Clan. We not I.

Here is wishing Mukesh Sir a happy birthday from all Exunites and many more happy years ahead.

Sounds like Teen Buzz

I recently came to know of this fascinating idea “Teen Buzz”

Teen Buzz is a ring tone optimized at 17.4 kHz which can only be heard by people less than 25 years of age because the ability to hear high frequencies deteriorates in humans with age. It is quite popular among teens in the United Kingdom who use it in schools so as to prevent disciplinary actions that would normally be imposed if a mobile phone user was caught using their phones during school hours.

You can hear the tone here

New Macbooks coming soon

First things first. Come October 14, 10 am PST and the new MacBook will be out. But wait, is it a new Macbook?  Now here is where things go a lil nutty. According to engadget, Apple has secretly created an entirely new manufacturing process. Apparently, Apple has created a brand-new process to sculpt casings for products out of aircraft-grade aluminum, using a system that carves the pieces out of a single block of metal using “3D lasers” and water-jet cutting. The new technique will supposedly allow for seamless components which require no bending or folding, won’t use screws to join together, are ultra-light but also “super strong,” and will enable the company to rapidly prototype and produce new designs. This is a rumor but rumors on engadget have been coming true time and again.

Coming over to the invite (the picture) it was quite surprising. Apple has been known to be all cryptic and mystic in their invites. Never before have they simply pointed out what new products they plan to unveil.
So why this Invite? Well IMHO, the sheer reason for that is Apple’s falling stock prices (taking in mind everybody in Wall Street is taking a beating these days). Prices have gone down by almost $85 in the past 3 months.

Well lets wait and watch what ol Jobs has in store (pun intended) for us.

UPDATE: Guys, the puzzle fits perfectly. I’ve been reading some insider news and I’m quite sure these are Apple’s steps towards creating a manufacturing process which would free them of the chains that bind them to Chinese/Taiwanese manufacturers like Foxconn. Does the acquisition of PA Semi ring a bell?
